Vermont

Vermont, a state nestled in the Northeast region of the United States, is a land of breathtaking natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. Its capital city, Montpelier, and its most populous city, Burlington, are bustling hubs of activity, attracting visitors from all over the world.

But beyond its picturesque landscapes and vibrant communities, Vermont is also a state that takes its document authentication seriously.

What documents can I apostille in Utah?

If you’re looking to apostille or legalize a document in Vermont, you’ll need to make sure that you have an original document or duplicate issued by the State, complete with the appropriate signature. The original document must have been recently issued, within the last five years, to be eligible for apostille. The process of apostilling the original document takes anywhere from 4-10 business days, so plan accordingly.

  • Request your quote through the form.

  • Provide us with the necessary information for your process.

  • Receive your document in the shortest possible time!

The Vermont Secretary of State apostilles both public and private documents, but only if certain conditions are met. For instance, birth, death, and marriage certificates must be certified copies issued ONLY by the custodian of these vital records. Notarized documents must be notarized by a Vermont commissioned Notary Public, and the notarized documentation must have the date of the Notary’s expiration date of their commission.

It’s important to note that certified copies of Vital Records can also be obtained from the Vermont Department of Health within the last five years ONLY and also from the Vital Records section of the Vermont State Archives and Records Administration.

Any certified copies not from an authorized source are NOT acceptable for an apostille. To request certified copies, you can mail a completed application and payment to the Vermont Department of Health Vital Records Office or order online at www.vitalchek.com.

If you need an apostille quickly, within 24 hours, and the original document is damaged or was issued over 10 years ago, you can still obtain an apostille by submitting a scanned photocopy of the original document. However, this option is only available if the destination country accepts apostilles of the scanned photocopy of the original document. Most countries do accept an apostille of the scanned photocopy.

Because the notary and the apostille are required to be issued from the same state, the scanned photocopy of the original document that you provide will be notarized and apostilled in New York City. To request this option, you can mail a completed application and payment to the Vermont Department of Health Vital Records Office.

In conclusion, Vermont is a state that values the authenticity and accuracy of its documents. Whether you’re a resident or a visitor, knowing how to apostille or legalize a document in Vermont can save you time and hassle in the long run.
